I have always been passionate about birth. I've been drawn to everything pregnancy and childbirth related since I was a little girl . At 19, I was blessed to be present at the birth of my third Niece, it was such an incredible experience that I immediately started looking into how I could do it again. At 20, I trained to become a birth doula and had the privilege of attending a few births before life swept me into a new season. From getting engaged, moving back to my hometown of Helena, Montana, getting married, and becoming pregnant with my first baby, all in an eight month period!
Although my doula work paused during that whirlwind, my passion for birth never faded. In fact, going through three of my own pregnancies and births only enhanced it. Each of my children were born in a birth center, with my last two arriving at the Helena Birth Studio. All three births were beautiful and empowering. I was supported, respected, and had full autonomy over my body, experiences every woman deserves. I've also been lucky to witness several births at St. Peters Hospital and have had great experiences with the nurses and obstetricians there. No matter the setting, I believe every woman should feel safe, honored, and in control of her birth experience.
This love for birth, and my mission to find a niche in photography, led me to MC Birth Photography. The photos I take during a birth capture more than just a baby being born, they capture the transformative power of the moment. It’s not just the birth of a child; it’s the birth of a mother, a father, a family. I get to document the moments you’ll want to return to again and again. The strength you showed during labor, the moment you surrendered control and leaned into your instincts, the first time you laid eyes on your baby, their first breath, their first cry that brought tears to your eyes. While my role today is to document the miracle of birth through images, that inner doula, the advocate, the sister, never goes away. If I'm present at your birth, I'm not just taking pictures. I'm rooting for you. I'm holding space for you. I'm witnessing your strength and honoring your story. Aside from being with my own family, there's nowhere I feel more alive than at a birth. It's a privilege to capture once in a lifetime moments for the families of Helena.
